After bravely defying the odds and surviving the introductory cutscene, it is now time for the next installment of Laura Bow in: The Dagger of Amon Ra! Note that I'm actually controlling the character, now, which means that my odds of survival decrease dramatically.

Who throws a baseball away!?

That's the whole purpose of at least one position on the team :D

You ran out of press passes... as a newspaper, do you not have any sort of reprographical equipment at your disposal!

"Sure and begorrah", from detective Ryan Hanra-O'Hanrahan, God almighty. This game really was written through a time-warp from the 1950s.

The whole hilariously annoying layout of the game is so typical of Sierra - it lives in a world of its own logic, where you need to follow necessary precautions and a precise procedure in order to even move around the environment you have access to without dying. I didn't discover the look left/look right on my own, I was told about it later - I can't recall where. I died once and then assumed, as any reasonable person would, that you couldn't go on the road and the taxi was the only way to move around.

This is one of those moments where I'm actually glad I have the floppy version instead of CD--on top of making a screenshot run possible by actually displaying text boxes, it means I don't have to hear the voices. Given what Dr. Carter and the as-yet-unnamed (but already ridiculous) Egyptian man sounded like in the introduction, I can only imagine how the CD voices must have made Sgt. O'Flaherty and Det. O'Riley sound upset because someone stole their Lucky Charms.

Edit: YOU CANNOT POSSIBLY BE SERIOUS

Edit 2: MY SAKUYA ACCENT IS MORE AUTHENTIC THAN THESE

And this will always be my favourite Tarantella :)

As an aside, I had forgotten how incredibly complex Road Rash 3's soundtrack was for a Genesis game... listen to that 7/4 bass solo!

That background is a little psychadelic, now that you mention it.

Didn't someone already say how the police station is directly across the street from the newspaper . . hall? Wasn't that you? It's still pretty bizarre to think about, even seeing it now. Maybe the taxi driver thinks you're trying to get the heat off you, so takes the long way around?
