Chugging along

On this the sixth day of NaNo, I finished a second novel chapter (which puts me halfway, or maybe two-fifths of the way, through my writing goal for the novel for this month; I was a little vague). This puts me at nineteen chapters complete (out of probably twenty-five), 71,601 words, 301 manuscript pages. I think another two thousand words or so ( Read more... )

Go running!

I'm off the pace (haha) with NaNo right now, but I'm hoping, since the kids have all just gone down, that I'm going to get a good couple hours in before I go to bed. And given the pace I've been going at, in sheer wpm (no small thanks to 750words for that little psychological boost), I can probably crank out 2k at least. Crossed fingers, and all that.

It really kind of amazes me to know that I can do a NaNo day's worth of writing in an hour or so if I just keep writing more or less continuously, which I don't think I would ever have quite put together without 750 to tell me so. *g*

Also, yay running! R, below, just sent me this link, about How Not To Get Hurt Running: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/11/06/magazine/running-christopher-mcdougall.html

Yeah, 750words has been some kind of crazy good psychology that way. I knocked out 2400ish last night in 1:41 total time. Kind of amazing. I also hit on a different approach to writing that pleases a discovery writer like myself. Draft, THEN outline, and revise the draft to the outline. It seems like a kind of promising approach. My only fear that I have to get over right now is that I keep losing track of names and places, but I keep plowing ahead.

Very good article, thanks :) Now I need to find a better description of 100-ups.

I didn't even realize until I went looking for a video, but he actually demonstrates it in the video in the article: http://video.nytimes.com/video/2011/11/02/magazine/100000001149415/the-lost-secret-of-running.html

And, uh, yay setting my alarm correctly so I'll actually have time to run tomorrow morning, which I did not, today. *g*
