Regarding needing space for vid-files, I realize I won't have much to worry about with the 640GB but I feel that is a little too much for me. I already have a 500GB mini external which I got at Christmastime and so I would have been fine with a "standard" capacity hard drive, so in this case I think the 640GB is just a bonus.

The only thing I will warn you about is the only problem I've had with my Asus laptop [which is almost 3 years old] is that it can't read dvd movies anymore. I don't know why --- but honestly, I don't care so I've never bothered to fix it. Or look into it, it reads game cd's just fine.
Also don't let Best Buy set it up, but Asus has amazing tech support.
