great video! scifigurl720 July 26 2005, 09:18:53 UTC
I really liked your clip selection for this video. There isn't much Sirius
footage to work with and the footage you used worked splendidly. Good Job.

Thanks. Yeah, at first I was afraid that there wouldn't be enough Sirius material to make the vid done, but as I re-watched POA I realized that Sirius is present throughout the entire film, even if he is't there in person. I just had to find the things in the film that represented Sirius. I think it worked ok. Glad you liked it! :)

*stares*

Very cool. (Also, uh, slightly creepy.) I especially love the entire beginning - you managed to find a lot of things evocative of Sirius before Harry ever really sees him. The crystal ball, then Harry running down the stairs.. ah, so very cool. And the various Grimm imagery - and the close-up on the photo of his parents! I just liked that, rather randomly. And such.

I really enjoyed this. Some of the timing was disconcertingly perfect - Harry blinking in tune to the music, for instance. It worked very well with the suspiciously mellow tune of the song against the yearning, admittedly slightly frightening lyrics. And, well, it's Harry Potter fandom. If everything's entirely right with the world, someone's brain is probably about to a'splode.

Lovely work, especially considering how little source you had.

Yay!

That's a great comment. Thanks for taking the time!

I'm glad the beginning worked. I really didn't over use what little material there is with Sirius, and I looked for substitutes that symbolize Sirius and there are in fact a lot in PoA. I think it worked ok.

Harry blinking in tune to the music is probably just a happy coincident, but I do take a lot of time to work on the timing and the pace of the vid.

I know what you mean when you say that the lyrics is slightly frightening, that's exactly why I like the song! It gives the Harry/Sirius relationship a ambiguity that I find to be intriguing. *evil grin*

Oh, I don't know what to say, but thanks! I'm so pleased you think I have a flair with narrative, because that is really my main goal when I make a vid, to tell some kind of story. I spend a lot of time trying to make the narrative as simple and as understandable as possible and hopefully I manage to do a decent job from time to time.

You can definitely interpret the vid as both slash and gen. I think it works very well as a gen vid, because the relationship between Harry and Sirius is a kind of love story, even if they aren't lovers. And it is indeed a rather dysfunctional relationship with lots of complications, at least in the books. Sirius and Harry wants different things from each other and they have a hard time communicating.

You really should watch the film. PoA is without a doubt the best of the Harry Potter films. It's dark, funny and beautiful!

Once again, thanks! :)
