Somebody approached me inside the office today to sell me rubber slippers for 800 bucks!
I tried to be gentle in saying, "I'm so sorry but I really have made it a matter of principle not to buy 'those' slippers."
She asked why.
And I answered, I cannot bear the thought of buying a pair for P800, knowing that I could have bought 10 pairs for the same amount, kept 1 for myself and gave the 9 other pairs to barefoot individuals.
It is understandable when rubber slippers cost that much in a European country since the standard of living is high and they pay in Euros. But here? Rubber is abundant, labor is cheap, do the math...
