Eee, thank you so much for the awesome commentary!! You did an amazing job, just as I knew you would. :D Seriously, your ability to read vids is frightening. In a good way. ;) I was especially curious to see what you'd say in light of your distaste for the character. Your hatred for him doesn't really come through, if you can believe that. ;)

Also, I hadn't ever seen a character study vid of Adama and this seemed like a big oversight given that BSG is a highly vidded show and Adama is one of the principle leads.
I know right? And almost everything that was out there was an Adama/Roslin vid. I don't have anything against the ship, but he's his own character, you know?

LOL! I actually really appreciate all the insights into Lee here, since they were spot-on and it saves me from having to go into a ton of detail during my own commentary. The "one not on the list" lyric tie in particular is one of my favorites and it was great to see that you understood exactly what it meant.

Despite the lyric indicating that the protagonist has 'fallen apart', what we actually see is him continuing to act, powerfully--this fits with Adama's life. He has suffered losses that could legitimately cripple him emotionally, but the 'falling apart' is all internalised and it doesn't get in the way of continuing to fight.
I think you're the first person to pick up on this. Again, your psychic powers are downright scary.

Really, I could quote every sentence and be like, "Yes, this!!" It's incredibly gratifying to see someone read a vid so clearly and to present their intepretation in such a compelling way. Thank you so much!

Hahaha, well I did try! But actually that's why I was so keen to write a commentary for this vid... because while watching this vid I don't feel my usual frustrations. I see reflections of them but it's like revolving a prism and seeing the show and character from a different perspective. It's hard to fight the sympathy of the vision inherent in the vid! Partly because it's not a whitewashing of the character, it does show Adama's own awareness of the places which are problem spots in his emotional landscape.

I don't know if it's psychic powers or just spending the time with the vid! Really I just feel like the vid is very emotionally transparent, and while I know I do bring my own associations along (inevitably) in viewing it, it's all THERE.
