2014 12 December staycation

New school, High holidays, being sick the whole Sukot, work overload - I am working for the downtown team again - and here is December and the last second realization that this year X-mas and Boxing day are Thursday and Friday, creating a 4 day long weekend. However, we stayed at home. And staying home has never been more fun!

Erev X-mas was half day at work, but Yaelly's camp was open till 4, so I went to see my daughter skating. I was a bit scared sending her to camp where they will skate an hour each day - after all, last year she decided ice was too slippery and did not want to do anything with it. But here she is, all exited to go skating with her pink skates and helmet. They gave the kids chairs to hold on to, and my kid was zooming on the ice holding on to her chair(while her new friend was holding onto the chair, knees on the ice). And then the instructor convinced Yaelly to let go of the chair. And she did. And she stood! And she skated!
At first she needed help to get up after a fall, but then she figured out how to get up by herself. Boy, was I proud of her! Still am!

The next day we didn't go anywhere. We stayed home and studied some Ivrit, watched some multiki and made some food. Then I taught Yaelly reversi on my soviet reversi board. She wins :)

Boxing day my friend convinced me to go to High park. We saw the little zoo they have there - big hairy horned monsters and raindeer and emu, described by Yaelly as a tall bird with little head. But what the kids enjoyed the most was the playground.

It is a castle for little people. Complete with towers, little hiding places and of cause slides! One of the slides was the tallest one I saw so far. But another girl told Yaelly that it's not scary and out of the 3 story curved slide came my daughter, very happy and screaming "mommy, it's not scary!" She also took her dolls to rides on a slide - a smaller one though, and gave them a ride on the swings.

And then on the car ride back I fed both girls sheppard pie - and for 10 min only chewing and chomping was heard along with "mmm, yammy".

Shabat we went to visit friends and Yaelly discovered their dog. She also played with a bunch of kids her age.

Sunday we continued to build beit mikdash with our friend, who lives around the corner and who introduced us to kishkashta. And then we went skating! Together! Not standing very well on my own feet, I was afraid of taking Yaelly, but she skates mostly by herself now. We both had fun! and then friends came by and then suddenly, the weekend ended :(
