A little bit-o-funk

Aug 04, 2008 10:20

Yesterday was an absolutely beautiful day. The weather was gorgeous not too hot, humidity in check and I got to spend time with beltainelady. I was in a bit of a funk and I am sure it showed but I really enjoy being around her. Anyway she was visiting LI and I visited her. We just sat, chatted and watched the dogs run around the yard.

I was accepted (again) by all of the dogs (her friend had a female rottie - absolutely gorgeous!), which makes me feel great. Of course when I got home my to gave me the sniff over wanting to know where I had been! LOL...

This was a bit of an off weekend for me because of my car situation. I dropped my car off at Circuit City Saturday morning @ 10:30am to have a car alarm installed. It was supposed to be first come first serve but uhmmm that didn't happen. The called me at 6:30 to tell me my car was done. Well Hubby and I go pick it up and the guy doesn't show me much of anything - hands me the keys and off I go. I get about 1/2 mile away and realize my speedometer is not moving - nilch nada nothing. Back to Circuit City we go. Oh the guy who did it wasn't there and we had to come back on Sunday.

We take the car home and hubby starts taking the dash apart to fix the speedometer and sees how they wired (or miswired as the case was) the alarm system. It was a shoddy job. Then we check under the hood. It was worse under there - the siren was just shoved in a corner - not held down and again wired poorly (black tape and wires exposed). Not the proper way to do things. As for the speedometer I had to re-attach the cable to the back of the panel. I had to work my hand into an impossibly small space and push while sticking my other hand into an equally small space to guide the cable into place. Oye! We finally got that fixed and decided to test the alarm.

We close the doors and hood and hit the alarm. Hubby shakes the car - nothing. He taps on the windows - nothing. He opens the door - nothing. Uhmmm I just had an alarm installed and if it weren't a test I would have no radio left? WTF??? We go to start the car with the alarm armed and it finally goes off. Great they have to start the car to get the alarm to go off. It is not that they want to steal the car - just the radio..

Sunday morning back at 10:30 again and the dude (he was a dude) says "you car was hard to work on". I have a 1996 Geo Tracker - standard. I am sorry you thought it was hard Dude but that is what you do for a living. Suck it up! Besides - hard to work on does not mean you do shoddy work. Totally unacceptable. So hubby goes and complains - you do not want hubby complaining about anything cause well he can be caustic. If it had been me fuming in there I am sure there would have been a couple of pieces of electrical equipment that went kablooey!. So leave the car we did.

So we went home and had breakfast - I took hubby's car out east to see beltainelady. We shot the breeze for a couple of hours. We talked about all kinds of stuff - I was just soaking in her friends beautiful yard and enjoying the company and the conversation. We had quite a number of laughs. Even though I don't see her that often I will miss her, she is a very special person.

I wish her only the best... Which I know she is getting where she is going.

friends, car
