One day you'll walk down the street, stop, stare at the people around you (who are starring back), and forget whatever the fuck it was that you were doing.  And in very similar instances, the memories you have and continue to make will be lost and gone forever.  Which, I guess is why you shouldn't hold on to some things for too long.  Unless...

It's an investment.  Something you watch grow, something that has the best chances for the future.  Which, I guess, is why some people stay married for 3, 16, 23, 55 years.

I am certain that every single person in my life is an investment.  I invest "what-would-be" deborah-isms in them to see where they take them.  I know they're winners when they retort with questions I can't answer.

So...

Memories will fade.  Investments will grow.
