Who said that?

I had my eye doctor appt. today. They dilated my pupils, which is one of the crappiest things one person can do to another. The walk home was painful; fortunately I live close enough that I could squint through my sunglasses and get an idea of where i was going. I also received an anesthetic that prevented my eyes from focusing closer than about 20 feet. I couldn't see my own hand in front of my face or read anything. It was actually scary at first, but annoying later. I had a tremendous headache all day. I hope Beth didn't think I was annoyed when she called; I just felt terrible.

Doc says my vision is off the chart. Most people are 20/20 and his chart goes to 20/400. He says I'm way-off, to the point where the only way he could tell how blind I am is through a retinal scan. "I think 20/1000 is legally blind and you're right around there," he said. You can bet how happy I was the rest of the day. Even now. Fucking depressing.

I decided to back off of this no-carb diet. It's not worth it to me, and this diet is for people who want -- or need -- to lose a lot of weight quickly. I only wanted to lose 10 to 15 pounds, and I'm already at least halfway there. There is no magic bullet -- it's just exercise, which I'm getting plenty of. I will, however, moderate my intake. Eat more salads and proteins, I think. But I had a beer tonight at Liz's house, and it tasted fucking amazing. : )

We watched the DNC and Kerry's speech. Although it wasn't exciting, it was a good speech. He made some brilliant attacks on Bush and, overall, I like the man more now. He's not the best, but I don't feel as forlorn as I had before. We had fun making fun of it, too. I can't wait for the RNC.

Anyway ... off to bed, to dream in 20/20.
