So...Bonk. Quite nice. Reminds me a Bit of Home, only without the Pointy Hats, and all.

This Carriage business makes me think of my Click days a bit. If something like this had happened in one of them I'd probably be Gone by now. Galloped off on a White Charger. With a sword. I'm not sure what I'd have been meaning to use it for, but it would ( Read more... )

Pointy hats? What pointy hats did you have at home? Wizards? Not even our dear Ponder Stibbons wears his pointy hat here. Instead: corduroy trousers and suspenders and cardigans!! Hahaha!

Not Ankh-Morpork. Home-home. You know the Hats: they've got Horns on.

Oh, those!! But weren't they helmets? Horns on ordinary hats would make them so out of kilter - unless they were fake horns, of course. Made from the same material as the hats. Knitted horns. That would be funny!

Well...yes. I can call them Hats, though, if I like.

Oh, yes! To somebody from there, helmets would of course just be ordinary hats. Like dwarfs, a bit.

And by the way, as I am talking to you: do you think Ponder Stibbons would mind if I came along to that open air concert that he's been plotting with Margo to take Lajos to in order to make him relax? I'm sure the poor Master Wizard would be a bit shy to say outright if he minds. It's just that I'd like to spend a bit of time with Lajos, and not only always in the cellars and at night. I'd be quiet, bring my coloured pencils, and just sketch a bit.

I beg your pardon?

Oh, hi! Please, do say: will you mind if I come along for the concert? Margo said I would have to ask you.

No, but I minde beinge spoken aboute in a condescendinge manner...

Oh, Master Wizard, it wasn't meant to be condescending at all! I was just being honest: you are a bit shy in such things, and polite, and would of course feel compelled to say you didn't mind me coming along, so I thought I'd better ask Victor.

So: do you really not mind me coming along? Because in that case, I will bring my straw hat, my dark glasses, my sketch book and my coloured pencils, and enjoy the music and the company of my Lajos.

But I might frighten your dog...

Normally, dogs like me. This is so odd. Tell me, was she frightened of Vladislav as well?

No.

Then it must be something about me personally she dislikes. Perhaps she senses your resentment...

But in any case, I'd like to come along if I may. Dog or no dog - I'm not letting you drag away my Lajos for all afternoon and evening the moment he returns.
