It may not be necessary, but it's a useful skill. You'd hate to get caught in an emergency needing to drive and not knowing how.

Precisely. Usually I'm incredibly prepared for things, but it occurred to me that I have no idea how to do this, except for what I've read in driving books. Which doesn't count.

Reading is good preparation. I'd advise taking the next step and practicing. With supervision, of course.

As much as ever, yes. The drug business is beginning to pick up again but I knew that was only a matter of time.

Yeah, these things never stay down for long. And it's summer, so we're looking forward to an increase of violent crime.

I suppose it keeps me from getting bored.

Boredom is a terrible thing.

Very much so, in my case. That's why I didn't stay retired long.
