Earlier last week, Shawn and I talked about getting some pumpkins for the upcoming holiday. ^__^ I was super excited about the idea because I haven't gotten pumpkins since I was little. Going to a pumpkin farm totally brings back happy memories from taking field trips with my class back in grade school.

Oh my gosh, Shawn and I had so much fun! We literally looked at every pumpkin at the farm. There were rows and rows of pumpkins and squashes outside, and then there were even more inside the little farm house. Ever since I was little, I've had this obsession with getting perfect pumpkins that have no dents and very little dirt. We were able to get three beautiful pumpkins to bring home with us. I even got a white pumpkin-- my first one ever. It's such a beautiful color; it's almost creamy.

Going with Shawn to the farm was really special for me. Now that we're engaged, I feel like it's finally time to start our own traditions for the holidays. <3 We could have done something like this in previous years, but Shawn never really liked the holidays. I didn't want to push a tradition on him that he wouldn't truly appreciate. Something about this year was different though. Even before he knew I wanted to go get pumpkins, he approached me and said he had found the perfect place to get some. Just hearing him ask me if I wanted to go made me so happy. Starting these little traditions is so meaningful.
Anyway-- back to the day! We went to the woman who was in charge so she could hold two of our pumpkins while we continued to look around. Behind her desk was a chair filled with five sleeping kittens. Oh gosh, I wanted them all. She told us that someone dropped them off in a box earlier that day and said she should give them away to anyone that wanted one. I was so, so, so tempted to take one home with me, especially after I held one. (These kittens were so friendly and calm, unlike certain kitties I know... Ahem, Ed and Isis.) Kittens are such a weakness for me. Of course, I didn't take one home... but holding a sleeping kitten was a really nice surprise today. ^__^
One of the funniest things Shawn and I came across was a patch of segregated white pumpkins. Almost all the pumpkins on the farm were orange, with a few white ones sprinkled in the mix. But then we saw all the white ones separated from all the others. It was sad-- they never had a chance! Haha.
