It looks like I closed July out with about 50 book sales! Which isn't bad!
When I receive July's royalty check (minus the Gov'ts cut) I'll have enough for a bucket of KFC! One thing that was interesting is when I raised my price-per-story from .99 to 2.99 there was a marked increase in sales! (It will be a month or two before I see the $$$, but hey that's going be a celebratory night in the Foxxe Den!)
August has started off with a bang!
I've already sold 30 e-books total! With a royalty of about $2.09 per book I've surpassed last month already. It looks like my publications are building momentum and gaining fans.
What's surprising is which book has turned out to be the best seller!
At the advice of some other writers I varied my offerings. Which means I published some M/F and M/M titles. My work before was heavily queued towards FEMDOM and SISSIFICATION tales. My sales were pretty weak to start but I noticed towards the end of July things were picking up, especially: SISSY FOR SALE.
In fact, it's by far the strongest selling title. So, being the capitalistic bitch that I am...expect more Sissy Tales, featuring Lisa and Nathan Harris!
AND UNCLE MAKES THREE .... HAS BEEN HIT WITH A PERMANENT BAN!
I wrote Amazon today to inquire about the banning of my recent publication "And Uncle Makes Three". It looks like the ban is indeed permanent and Amazon isn't budging on the issue:
We've reviewed your response concerning the following book:
Erotic Tales: And Uncle Makes Three (ID:1518180).
We've confirmed that your book contains content that is in violation of our content guidelines and we will not be offering this title for sale in the Kindle Store. As stated in our guidelines, we reserve the right to determine what we consider to be appropriate, which includes cover images and content within the book.
I suspect that Amazon is cracking down on Erotica and I think I've some good reasons for thinking this.
Kindle Erotica makes a lot of money and from what I can gather quite a few writers are making a good living producing it. For almost a year I've been hanging out on various author forums and it appears Erotica authors (the good ones) are bringing in good money.
Furthermore there seems to be some evidence that 'taboo' erotica (incest, BDSM, etc..) makes up a huge chunk of those sales.
It's the kind of story I bet Amazon doesn't want out there..that their growing e-book kingdom is powered by SMUT!
My book is certainly full smut and lots of taboo (incest, water-sports, mild enema play, and double penetration). I'm not overly concerned as I'm confident in my ability to 'tone it down' and still tell a hot story. But there you have it.....
*Note: And Uncle Makes Three is selling on Smashwords. Not briskly but it's had two sales since it went live this weekend. Which is pretty good for a new publication!
