What does the word 'love' mean to you?

My first reaction is to say that the word 'love' is only that. A word. Love is so much more than a word. The word itself means next to nothing. It's about the person who's saying it and the person it's being said to. It's about the context it which it's used. I can look someone in the eye and tell them I love them and not mean it. Anyone who can lie can certainly use the word love to their advantage. I don't understand the constant use of the word... people become desensitized to it. It's like seeing violence constantly on the evening news and in movies. After awhile it's not so wild to see an alien dog eat off his owners face. Hence, you've been desensitized.

My family doesn't make it a point to say "I love you" every time we speak on the phone or even seeing each other in person. Why should we have to? We show our love with smiles and hugs and genuine concern for one another. I'd rather someone show me their love than tell me they love me. I love a lot of people and things. I rarely say it, but I do. Some people need to hear it I guess... so I make a point to use the word every now and then. Ultimately the word "love" means nothing to me.

To me, love itself is unconditional. You have no idea what I'm talking about.
