Take the Nerdheads Bowling

Jan 08, 2007 21:15

I never bowled as a child. Oh, people tried to take me bowling, but we were always foiled by the same villain: league night. One friend's entire birthday party was effectively cancelled by this beast. Why my friends' parents never learned to call ahead, I'll never know. The end result is that I never learned to bowl.

Last night was my second time bowling. It was my friend Bekka's birthday, and if she wants bowling, then she gets bowling. Doomed to embarrassment and frustration, I did not complain. I just hung my head in anticipation of what was to come.

To my shock, my friend Scott gave me two tips. He demonstrated them, and corrected me when I made mistakes. This was necessary about twice.

The second game of the night-- my third game ever-- I bowled a 118. I picked up the spare on the final frame to win the game, at least on my lane. I bowled six strikes that night.

Woo hoo! Bowling suddenly kicks ass!

bowling, friends
