Ah, tonight's Tango lesson was so rad. Everything about me learning this dance is so right, I absolutely love it. Every week it's so much more than a lesson, it's not an impersonal "shuffle you through the line and take your money" scam like the Viscount was, Alex and Carrie are teaching us to truely dance, and by that I mean not just "how" to move our bodies around together with music, but in such a deeper sense, they're showing us what dancing truely is, a beautiful conversation between you and your partner in which the two of you are in your own world together, leading and following each other, listening so intently to each other.. Tango is such a refined artform, there is so much technique to it, and i'm starting to learn posture and balance which I have to have in order to even dance Tango decently, as well as truely relaxing and having control over my entire body.. it's hard, but I love every minute of it. I am so happy to be learning from someone who is so passionate about the dance, and someone who is genuinely humble and confident and loving at the same time.. He loaned a bunch of us CDs from his own collection so those of us that wanted would have Tango music to listen or practice to. Who does that? Cool people. A trend started in Buenos Aires of Tango people drinking Yerba Mate, a tea that mildly relaxes your body while making your mind more naturally awake, not jolting you like coffee does, and at Tango Berretin (Alex's studio where I'm learning) there's millions of little gourds sitting around, and I asked him jokingly "So are you going to get us all drinking Yerba Mate by the end of this?" and he started telling me about it, more than I knew before, and I was getting all interested, and then he brings out a gourd and a special straw and a huge bag full of the stuff and gives it to me! "I've got a gourd you can use for awhile" man, I love that guy! He told me that I'm doing very well, and that he can see that every now and then I get in the zone and really begin to feel it. How can he tell? I don't know.

Katie's going away for a leetle while, I'm excited for her to finally go back to Arizona again. And I cant wait till summer to go with her and meet all the rad people I've never met that I feel like I'm friends with already. As for me, I'm not going to Orange County this weekend after all, I realized the cost to fun ratio would be too high, plus Jeremy moved to Seattle and is throwing a blues party on Friday, and then there's the Blues/Tango/Lindy fusion dance here on Saturday, my favorite dance ever.. so I'm staying in the Norf Waist
