General Update

Time does, indeed, fly. As do I. I'm headed to Myrtle Beach on May 25th -- my sixth trip since my first date with Michael in September. I'm raking up tons of flyer miles; too bad that they don't stretch as far as they used to. I should use them for a much-needed vacation. Hawai'i sounds nice -- or any cruise. Unfortunately, it's difficult to coordinate with girlfriends' schedules, and I'd rather not go alone. Actually, I would rather go alone, but things just aren't safe enough anymore. Anyone ready to run off to some tropical place for a week?

We had a wonderful weekend together over Easter, but it was too short. May's trip will be longer, 10 days, which will enable me to spend about three days in the middle with my mom and family, and two weekends with Michael at his house. I LOVE Michael's house; it has only four rooms (living area, kitchen/dining and two bedrooms), plus two bathrooms and a laundry room in 1700 square feet, so it feels really spacious. I have my own bathroom, which is huge but hideous, decorated in early 1980s ex-wife-orangey-peach. Can't wait to redo it. Even if I were never planning to live there, I'd offer to fix it. I end up cleaning something every time I go there because I'm fairly certain that his housecleaner doesn't actually clean anything.

I'm sick with a cold -- my second in six weeks, after not having had one in four years. Oh well, I guess it was my turn. I've never been exposed to so many colds in my life; should be happy that I've gotten off this easy.

Work is, well, work. This $40M "thing" has taken on a life of its own. We hope to begin deployment in August, but that remains to be seen. Right in the middle of my efforts to interview and hire three new people on my project, the CEO announced a hiring freeze. However, the Director of IT told me that because our project is funded, I'll be able to get the help I need. Otherwise, I'd be up soup creek without a ladle.

Oh well...
