I stayed up late last night to watch the Oscars and the new Iron Man 2 trailer on Jimmy Kimmel.
The last couple of years, I haven't really paid much attention the Oscars in the last couple of years, because none of the movies I enjoyed were really nominated. This year there were quite a few. Though mostly it's the evening gowns that are the best part for me.
- I'm really glad Christoph Waltz won. He really was fantastic. I'd love to see more of his work. I understand he's mainly a TV miniseries and movie actor in Europe. Unfortunately, Netflix has very few films with him. Hopefully, since his sweep of the awards season more of his work will be available in America.
- I got so sick of hearing about freakin' Avatar all night long. I was so glad to the Kathryn Bigelow and beat her ex-husband. How awkward was that that Cameron was sitting behind her. They seemed ti completely ignore one another.
- The Brat Pack really hasn't aged well, except for Matthew Brodrick. He still looks exactly the same. I would not have recognized Molly Ringwald.
- The clothes were mostly very beautiful and can't think of one gown off the top of my head that I thought was really ugly. There did seem to be a lot of people with big fluffy trains and bustle like things, like Zoe Saldano. I can't imagine how uncomfortable they were to sit in and to make look presentable after they got up. Robert Downey Jr. totally looked like he was at an 80's prom. I also realized I find him much less attractive without some facial hair.
- I really wanted Colin Firth to win. He gave a really beautiful performance in A Single Man. Plus, he's Mr. Darcy.
- A lot of really great actors died this year. That's really sad.
- Despite the fact that there were a good many movies I was rooting for couple of my favorite movies of 2009 didn't even get nominated. My top 3 movies of 2009 were: Inglourious Basterds, Zombieland, and The Hangover. My honorable mentions (movies I really enjoyed, but won't watch over and over) were: An Education, A Single Man, and The Fantastic Mr. Fox. I haven't seen Up in the Air or The Hurt Locker yet, but I plan to.
- Iron Man 2 trailer. Looks Awesome! Can't wait!
