Man, I haven't been around much lately. The occasional fly-by comment is the most I've had a chance for.
The new job is going well so far. Though I hope financially-wise that there will soon be enough work for to do full time. Working from home is sort of weird. I always thought I'd like it, but it's tough to get used to in a way. I'm not really a people person and I don't miss being in an office full of drama queens. In that way it's really peaceful, except for the occasional spats with my cat, Kaylee, when she insists on 'helping'. That's usually only in the morning and afternoons, because in the middle of the day she has to have a lot of time to herself for her napping.
I do miss having people to talk to when I want to or just being around people. I have to get out a little bit on most days, whether it's just to grab coffee or something to eat. I used to walk about four or five blocks from the parking garage to the office and walk around the downtown area around the office at lunch. I sort of miss the exercise and I've been trying to at the very least walk to the mailboxes at the front of the complex everyday.
It's also hard for me to get going in the mornings since I don't have to be somewhere. I'm not a morning person anyway, so it sort of works out because I can mostly make my on hours. But it's still been hard to make myself get into a routine of working and not just lounging around the house.
I did get to go to Virginia to meet the other people in the company and Oliver the office cat. Oliver and I bonded very quickly and wad my constant shedding companion. Poor Oliver is nearly 18 and is mostly blind, but he still gets around pretty well with the occasional bump into the wall. I told that they need to get him a seeing eye dog, like a little Chihuahua or something to guide him.
They really live in the Middle of Nowhere, Virginia full of cows and horses and really, really dark. There was a nice little town about 15 minutes away called Warrenton and it's also about on hour from DC, but it's not my kind of place. I'm done with the middle of nowhere. Hopefully, on future trips I'll get into DC. I know have have to head back up there right after the first of the year.
On a side note, it really astounds me that most of the passengers on the plane were lined up to go to bathroom. People, it's only an hour and a half flight. Surely, everyone couldn't have a medical problem. Geez, go before you get on.
