OMG, I'm so sad the the Middle Eastern restaurant is closed today. I would kill for the chicken kabobs from there today. They're served over rice with, a side of grilled squash, zucchini, red and yellow peppers, and tabouli. They're so tasty!
Woo Hoo! New car is here! It was supposed to be here last week but the train broke down. WTF? Anyway, it got here this Friday. And it is freakin' awesome.I've got to sit down with the manual and figure out how to work the navigation system (which can give you real-time traffic and weather reports and look up movie times. How cool is that?) and how to sync up my phone and mp3 player.
The voice activation systems seems to not like my accent, but seems to pick up my dad's even though he has a much thicker accent than I do. Maybe a masculine voice is easier to pick up. I had the salesman laughing at me when he was showing me all the stuff, because I kept prefacing all my voice commands with "Computer...". He's like "It's not Star Trek, just say 'phone'." It's weird how something like that becomes deeply ingrained in you. I mean the Enterprise computer is probably the first voice activated system I or most people was ever truly aware of. So since I don't have an R2 unit to interact with the computer for me, I guess I have to default to Star Trek from my computer communication.
I was sort of irritated how people kept telling me "The V8's got a lot more power. Don't let it get away from you." WTF? It's not like haven't driven a car with a V8 before. I've even driven my old boss's Porsche 911 Twin Turbo. I'm not stupid and I have been driving cars of all sorts for at least 15 years now.
Anyway expect car pics later. : )
4th of July was nice. We took my grandmother to the mall so she could sit and watch people while we shopped and then took out her to dinner. Later my parents and I went to see Public Enemies. I enjoyed it a lot. It was fun. Johnny Depp is a really great and versatile actor. I'm always a little shocked at how good he is in the vast mediocrity of Hollywood. Also, there was plenty of costume porn for me and car porn for my dad. It always surprises me his vast knowledge of cars. He can tell you the year and model of almost any car. I hope when he gets the chance to retire he'll start restoring antique cars again. He and my grandfather restored a Model T and about 4 Model As in the 70s and 80s. We still have one Model A and it need a bit of a touch up.
Wow, I'm just rambling away today. I hope all of my American friends had a wonderful 4th!
