blackwork chessboard
I'm so far behind in updating my projects here! I've been contenting myself with quickie posts on Facebook, but that is such a transient forum for me. LJ is so much better in so many ways. Here is a piece of a chessboard I am working on. It's been on hold for awhile - so much else to accomplish since I came back from vacation in July - with an entire room full of yarn from my mom. That's another post! This one is about the chessboard. I am using the two big styles of historic blackwork - counted and freeform. I doubt if that is the appropriate terms, but they are descriptive. That's all I'm going for. The patterns I am using are my own, but based on historic patterns. They could best be termed "historically appropriate".
