President-Elect Obama raised the level of debate.

He has the intelligence, calm, judgement we need in the President to raise the level of debate on a global level.

The youth of this nation actually took the time to take a stand for intelligence over knee-jerk emotional attacks.

I have hope again.

OTOH, the Basil Rathbone icon is made of win! Is the still from The Adventures of Robin Hood or from The Court Jester?

Yeah. I don't think I've seen the other film.

Most people don't know that Rathbone was an Olympic-quality fencer. In Robin Hood, Flynn was basically flailing randomly about with his sword, and it was Rathbone who made it look like a real sword fight. The same with Danny Kaye in Jester

My favorite Rathbone saying (though I'm doubtless misquoting):

"The most difficult thing I ever did in Hollywood? Making Errol Flynn look like he knew how to fence."

That always warms my heart, for some reason. :-)

I'd be interested in seeing how the various stars in Richard Lester's Musketeers films stacked up. I'd look in my copy of By The Sword, but it's up in Tennessee and I'm down here in Atlanta. If I can remember when I go home this weekend, and if I can find it, I'll look when I go home this weekend.
