Sneaky sneaky!

It was unusual for Ali to not find Jareth's attention all on her as soon as she stepped into the Labyrinth. Usually it meant he was angry with her about something; he must have thought that she'd be somehow cowed by the long walk to the castle to find him in his throne room. Not that it worked, but he kept trying it on her. Ali tried to spend the duration of her journey productively, thinking about what apologies he might expect today and whether she was going to give any or not. She was pretty well decided against it when she made her way into the throne room.

The empty throne room.

This puzzled her exceedingly--where had he gone? Was he hiding for some mischievous reason, or planning something elsewhere? Further exploration in the castle proved equally fruitless. She couldn't even find most of the goblins. But she could find the bedroom, somehow spartan without its occupant, and so she sprawled across the bed. Surely he'd be back soon...

...or would he? This was her first time left alone in the Labyrinth; she didn't want to waste the opportunity by napping. No, something entirely more productive was called for, and she knew just the thing. Won't Jareth be surprised when he gets home!

labyrinthine, surprise, jareth
