Visits
One of the strange paradoxes of recovery is the often increased frequency of visits from friends. People always want to come and see how the invalid is doing, sometimes out of concern and sometimes out of a desire for gossip (and more often a combination of the two). These visits are rarely conducive to rest, however.
Ali counted herself lucky that when Samus came to visit, there was no need to pretend to be better than she is, though she still tried, and no need to play more the hostess than to offer to order in. So it was that the two bruised beauties were curled up on the sofa, eating Chinese and watching "The Wizard of Oz".
