The Grooming of the Sphinx [for Sweeney & Sasha]

Sweeney's gathering up his tools, packing everything into a lovely and convenient travel-sized bag to take to the zoo; at the sound of the goslings knocking at the door, he straightens up and calls, "The door's open, come in." Now, where did he put that hairbrush?

Chester rushes to greet the children. Guess what he's got in his mouth.

The children surge in, followed by a dog, three cats (one winged), two mothers and a partridge in a pear tree. Of course, Chester gets attention, as always. Sasha's soft "good morning, Sweeney," might not be audible over the sounds of children and puppies playing.

"Good morning," she echoes, a bit louder so she'll be heard. "I see Chester's helping you pack."

Lyn, after giving Chester his hello pets, heads for Sweeney. She's holding a picture, which might be of him (the hair is a giveaway, even with a seven-year-olds talent): it's white and red crayon on black paper. "I drew this for you."

"Chester," Sweeney calls in exasperation, before turning his attention to the more important matter of Lyn's drawing. "Did you?" He smiles. "It's a masterpiece. I shall have to put in up in the parlour so everyone can see it."
