Sunday Mornings [open]

Feb 24, 2008 09:31

The Trainer household was hardly what anyone would call "common", but even still it tended to have its routines and rituals. One was that Sunday mornings were spent being quietly productive. Nobody got up too terribly early, but after breakfast it was expected something useful be done with the day.

With the children with their father most Saturday nights and not expected home until lunch, Ali spent these mornings cooking. As much as she adored cooking with her children, there were some things for which they simply had no patience yet or which were simply too complicated for little hands. Ali couldn't blame them for not wanting to wait for things that could take hours, or which were too easily ruined by overly enthusiastic stirring. So this Sunday saw her in her usual state (barefoot, aproned, and liberally dusted with flour), surrounded by a variety of dishes in various stages of being finished.
