That Which Comes of Dreaming

Well, the last few days have been interesting.

Haldir and I planted the mallorn. It's growing spectacularly, so far. It didn't take long to get noticed. I didn't expect anything less, though.

Since then I've been dealing with the ramifications: Sel and I brought acorns to Queen Mab and High King David, and explained what they are and how to grow them. I remain surprised that Chronos is such an unknown art. No matter: if I go and do them the favor of using my skills to grow their trees, they owe me.

That never hurts.

I managed to find some time for myself, too, and sought advice on how to celebrate. I like Maxim's answer: cookies and music.

But I also took some of Ephram's advice, and did some traveling. Today started with croissants and hot chocolate in southern France. Rathesmere's estate is truly beautiful, and his hospitality generous. I wonder how much better it would have been if he'd been expecting me?

No matter. I brought him four acorns, wrapped in leaves from the mallorn (I've heard that the leaves keep bread fresh, so I thought they might keep the nuts fertile). It is not, perhaps, the quest he has so long wished me to undertake for him, but I don't think he can complain overmuch about my results. We had breakfast when he overcame the shock of the gift and its implications, and then he allowed me to accompany him on his morning ride.

Everyone was staring at me when I left, like they were sizing me up for something. It was a little unnerving.

Then I went to Ireland for a little while, and had tea with Lord and Lady Moore. They, too, were given acorns. Lord Moore may be uptight, but I know he'll do right by his people in regards to the gift. I think Alured's in babylove with Lady Moore, and she seems to adore him too. I don't blame him, she's delightful. She gave me honey. I love honey.

I didn't get to stay long, though. During tea I found out Tymon was on the march. Idiot. He tried to take my land from me. And he tried to convince David that I'm disloyal because what else could I possibly be planning to do with all this power I have?

Then he found out I was sharing, he threw such a tantrum that David decided to get rid of him. No, he's not dead. But he's not Duke anymore, either.

I love promotions.
