The perils of costumes
Today was a good day. The trip to New York went very well, and I think everyone had a lot of fun. I managed to finally get something at the Goblin Market I've been wanting a while, and with perfect timing too. We've brought home a number of orchids, since the kids decided they wanted to try taking care of them. So they got to choose two each, and it'll be one of their lessons for school. Botany is a valid field of study, and I'm not just making things up as I go along. Really. (Stop looking at me like that.)
Anyway! Tonight was the premiere of the Lyric's production of Verdi's "Un ballo in maschera." It was wonderful, but taught me an important lesson: do not wear period gowns matching the period of the production, for someone might mistake you as being in the cast. That was potentially much worse than it ended up. I shall definitely not be wearing a chiton and stola to "Titus Andronicus" next week.
The charity event last night went well, too. Alured was very popular and thankfully well-behaved, while he was in public at least. I even enjoyed my dinner companions. I taught them the value of sharing (at least for the night) so we all got to sample just about everything that interested us off the menu. I was delighted we got to go to Sandrine's. I love flammekueche. I think Ingress and Lyn should enjoy the walk-on part in next year's "The Nutcracker" production we won in the auction.
And this, having nothing to do with the discussion thus far, perfectly illustrates why I shouldn't ever go to hospitals.
And, in my spare time (I have spare time?) I've helped explain why people in movies dress funny, had another discussion about revenge and being a hero, helped someone see that moving isn't always bad to a charming...alien of some sort I met the other day, and explained why we never feel good enough for the ones we love.
I swear, I should sell tapes of my answers to these questions, I'd make another fortune. The Nexus would be quiet though.
Also, Ardala took the acorn for a while today and won't exactly tell me why. She says it's a good thing though. Silly cousins, being so secretive with me.
I'm so tired. I think Alured's finally asleep so I'm going to bed now.
