Idiots: the Sequel, plus vaguely worried ramblings

Anyone else feel like swearing at other peoples' deities too? I find it really hard to believe that a man who built his own pacemaker into a suit of super-armor is this dumb. And yet he is!

And then this was just...gah! The stupid made my brains hurt. And then thinking that it'd be okay to fight with each other with Jubilee there at their feet?!

So, to make myself feel better, My always-wonderful bosses at the firm have agreed to deal with the legal wrangling with the city to get permission to pull down some of the derelict factories and warehouses and rezone the land for private use. It shouldn't be a problem, they think, since we're not asking for any grants or tax breaks, just rezoning. It shouldn't take more than a few days to snatch up a few plots of land in a row, since nobody really wants it right now (and I've got friends in good places to push the paperwork through). Crews will be ready to start clearing the land by the end of the week, and then we can start preparing for the plants.

Sam said the tree will need babying for the first year, and I want to give it the best chance possible. I've found a good line of organic gardening things, fertilizers and insecticides and soforth. I've heard they work really well. And my cousins have agreed to add the park to their rounds of patrols. They don't quite get it yet, I don't think, but I suspect they'll understand when they see the tree. I went down and talked to Margaret and her friends. They aren't pleased, of course, but have grudgingly accepted my word that everyone who doesn't abuse the privilege will have free access to the garden and everything therein. I've also agreed to let them pick the spot the other trees for the neighborhood are planted. The acorn impressed them; when I left, they were already arguing about where the next trees would go.

I have to decide what sort of garden I want it to be. Since it'll be so close to the Commons, I want to make sure it's something different. Maybe something very formal and European? I know I want to have lady bug, butterfly, and bat houses there. I like the pattern of this garden, and the tree could be at the center. I also like the design of this knot garden, and this scrolling parterre, though I'd want to include more flowers. It'd have to be much bigger so the tree can grow into it, of course (it will, I'm told, be really huge), so there'll be room for adding flowers. Maybe like this one has?

I know I want there to be art. From local artists, of course. And calla lilies. And a fountain. A big one, but not the classical sort. Something more...well, flowing. I like this one. It looks like she's making an offering to the gods. And it's a pretty color. Maybe with a bigger pool around it, and a higher one with bench-sized wall.

I think these blocks are just about perfect: fun, child-friendly, educational, and works of art. And I found these adorable cabinets modeled on Dutch canalhouses. I think they'll be perfect for the playroom. They make big ones, and smaller CD-sized ones, and matching daybeds. And, for Morty and Julian, these adorable little toy cars.

I wonder if we should get some of cubes that open into mini rooms. I know Lyn and Ingress aren't entirely happy sharing a room, but I think it's better than they have a room that's for studying and play. This way they'd both have their own space they can decorate however they like, too. With any luck, by the time they outgrow the cubes they'll be used to sharing a room.

I hope Sam's around again soon. I have something for him. And I haven't seen Jack either...
