Waiting for the Wayward

Ali set a comfortable pace for herself on the walk back to the house in Betäuben. There was no need to rush, and no need to worry. Whatever Jas was doing with his newfound powers was quite beyond her control. And, just maybe, he'd appreciate her better if she weren't there to clean up after him this time.

So she walked, basket swinging rhythmically, enjoying the bite of the cold air on her face and the clinking of the bottles in her basket shifting back and forth against each other. She walked along the beach a way, and then along the trees at the cliff's top. By the time she got home, she had quite a collection of things she's found.

None of them were what she really wanted, but they were good distractions in the meanwhile.
