Two trimesters, over. I can't believe it. Alured's getting so big now, and they say he can recognize my voice, and Mortimer's. I hope Sasha's, too.

I wish we had room to put in a birthing tub. I don't want to go to a hospital.

"Yeah, there are some. But most people think hospitals and lots of painkillers are required."

"Why would they think that? Women must have been giving birth long before those things existed..."

"Because...they were told so? I don't know."

"Well, it's a very good thing you know better. Maybe you could find someone to help you with the birthing at home."

She nods. "I hope to."

He gives her a hug, then, long and squeezy, and after a minute or two says almost shyly, "Ah, Ali-san... you don't have to talk to Kuro-ku about marrying me anymore..."

She hugs him close, rubbing his back gently. "Why not, sweetie? Don't tell me you've changed your mind."

He snuggles. "No, not at all... I already told him yes." She should be able to hear that smile if not outright feel it!

"Oh that's wonderful!" She smiles brightly, her hug tightening for a moment. "Congrats, darling!"

"Thank you!" He hugs back happily. "I had no idea he was even thinking about it, but I guess he had the idea before I even talked to you about it, and he asked me the other night... it was amazing."

"He's very smart. Did you get a ring? Is it pretty? Can I see?"

"Yes! Here, see..." Fay disentangles himself from where he was wrapped around her in an octopus hug and holds out his hand proudly. A gold ring, slim, yet solid looking, with rounded edges. "I think it's beautiful. I think it's really beautiful."

"It is, it's lovely." She smiles, admiring the ring for a moment. "And it suits you."

"He has good taste." He says this proudly, as if Kurogane picking out a suitable ring is an Accomplishment. "Thank you, Ali-neechan. I'm a little silly right now, I think I'd love it even if it didn't suit me."

"You're welcome. And he does, he picked you." Cliche, perhaps, but heartfelt.
