Her Very Own Dollie [for Fay]

Sep 19, 2006 23:53

Ali sat in her favorite chair, waiting for Fay. What could be keeping him from coming and playing dress-up with her? It was baffling. She had such cute things for him to try on, too...

Fay knocks on the door, holding the note in one hand. The note was simple enough for him to be able to read, and he was intrigued by the picture and the prospect of dressings-up, so he calls out, "Ali-san? I found the picture you left me."

If she were an Alicat at the moment, he'd get pounced. But she's not, so he'll have to settle for an enthusiastic hugging when the door is opened. "Fay! Hi! Come in!"

"Hello, Ali!" Fay laughs, hugging back. He manages to enter while they're still hugging, graceful mage that he is, even closing the door behind himself with one foot. "It's good to see you again. How are you doing?"

"I am very well." She steps back enough for him to admire her costume. "Today is Talk Like a Pirate Day! And I thought you might like to play dress-up too."

"Ah! Ali-san looks so pretty!" Fay claps his hands, beaming. "Yes, I'd love to. Talk Like a... Pirate?"

"Thank you!" She does a little twirl before answering his question. "You're the second guy I've met who didn't know what that is. Have you met my captain, James Hook? He's a pirate."

"No, I don't think I've met him. I don't know if they've had pirates in any of the worlds we've been in..."

"That is very sad. Pirates...well, real ones, at least, the ones that were real in my world, were sailor-thieves. They'd have big ships and sail around, stealing the cargo of other ships. But over the years they've been romanticized, and are now considered dashing and heroic." She leads him over to the sofa, where there's all sorts of fun clothes for him to try on. "And they had great clothes."

"That sounds exciting." He lets her lead him happily, exclaiming when he sees the clothes, "Hyuu! Very nice! Do you think I should dress like this, Ali-san?"

"I think you'd cut a very dashing figure if you did." She smiles.

"Hmmm, could you help me figure out what to wear, then? You're very fashionable and these clothes look a little complicated."

"Oh, I'm sure you'd figure it out. But if you'd like." She takes a dark blue shirt from the pile, then matching breeches. "Start with these. If they fit properly we'll figure out what should go with them."

He nods, looking around for some place to change. He doesn't mind changing in front of other people, certainly, but they often don't appreciate him changing in front of them. "I know, but I like Ali-san helping me. Umm..."

"So sweet." She wouldn't mind the show, but she turns him towards the door to the bathroom. "You can change in there."

"Ah, thank you." He heads inside to change, coming out a few minutes later in the dark blue shirt and breeches and smiling. "These fit pretty well!" And in fact he looks quite good in slightly oversized stuff anyway. "How did you know they were my size?"

"I guessed." She shrugs a bit with a smile. "Hugging is good for guessing these things. Now for a vest."

She holds up a vest, dark golden-brown with a row of shiny gold buttons. "This one?"
