A poem for Jas (and all the other pirates I know):

The Cutlassfish
Kashiwagi Jotei

Battle cries dwindle, sun in the sky serene,
billowy seas stilled, the great peace has begun.
A million broken swords subside into the sand,
and in one night the east wind transforms them into fishes.

poetry, hook

*he tilts his head. People rarely give him gifts like poetry. It's a shame, because he likes it* Very generous, Ali.

She smiles. "I'm glad you like it. I knew I had to share it with you when I read it."

You seem to have a great deal of time for finding beautiful things. I must admit I envy you that.

"Do you find yourself with so little time for books and libraries? That's a pity. I've always made a habit of making time for these things." And now, the great and momentous question: is he going to make her get up to hug him, or is he going to sit with her first? Oh the suspense!

((I'm in a very silly mood today.))

((Ahhh...good, good ^^ ))

*He has no wish to make a lady in her condition get up unnecesarily, so he approaches her and sits a little awkwardly next to her* I have not been to a library in some time.

"That's a pity." She shifts to lean towards him, her arms settling comfortably around him. "Next time you've got a free afternoon I could show you some places in the Nexus, if you'd like."

*he is just about getting comfortable with being spontaeneously hugged: and let's face it, he should be comfortable being this close to Ali by now. He leans into her*

That sounds a fine plan.

All things considered, hugs should not be the thing they do together that he worries about.

"I look forward to it. How has your day been today?"

*Far too much of his English Etonian upbringing remains for him to even consider worrying about that sort of thing unduly*

I have found it slow. *truth be told, he has been unpacking, marvelling at the mends on his shirts, dousing the candles in his rooms so he can test the glowsticks, and finding somewhere to hide a teddy bear*

"Slow days can be nice. Very relaxing." She snuggles a little closer, closing her eyes and smiling. "Has yours been relaxing?"

*he considers this. It hasn't been boring, and the little multi-coloured sticks of light were fascinating, so much so that he quite lost an hour or so examining them. He is not anywhere near approaching the same state of relaxation as he was in when he first returned yesterday, however*

Yes, I believe it has.

Well, that's what he gets for bringing up a topic like magic with her. "That's good."

*That subject will lie in dust long before he brings it up again. He looks at her where she is snuggled next to him* I see you take your own relaxation seriously. *the hint of teasing is back in his voice*

"If I don't, who will?" She grins. "Oh! I'm sorry. Would you like some tea, or some lemonade?"

*he holds up his hand, forestalling* Do not trouble yourself. I am more than capable of fending for myself. Is there anything I could fetch for you?

She shakes her head, smiling at the idea that he feels so comfortable fending for himself already. "No, thank you."
