GO me!
I just pulled what was probably my last allnighter at McGill... sigh. I am actually going to miss the horrible little blighters... no really, I am. There's a certain calm in the computer lab at the wee hours of the morn. And Tim Hortons is open practically all night. However, that said I did actually get 3 - almost 4 - hours of sleep early this morning before I handed in my history final take home exam. It was a lovely affair on literacy rates in New France and the family unit as dominant over church and state structure.
Speaking of the History of New France class...
I just got my thesis length research paper back and I got an A! (I'd like to point out that McGill does not have A+).
Let me quote from the Professor's comments:
"Catherine, Excellent research, and a pleasure to read. May I keep a copy for teaching purposes? Your bibliography will be most useful to me. Thanks for a most serious piece of work". I'd like to point out that my research was steller and a long time in the works - most of the sources were in French, too (making it a bit longer process).
I repeat, go me. I am not even a history major. I was also one of the only anglophones in the class, and I shouldn't have even taken the class because I never took the prerequisite. Am feeling elated and a bit wired too.
I am not sure if this beats the A I received on the English Theory novel I never read. I made up an analysis based on the jacket (I tried to get the darned book but it was sold out everywhere - I ended up with about 3 photocopies from the book in total). The prof said it was the most intuitive analysis he'd read and that my conclusions were very innovative.
However, I now include Professor Catherine Desbarats into the list of 'decent' McGill professors. Catherines with a 'C' are always outstanding people.
They should erect a statue of me in all truth.
