Like I mentioned before, it's very quiet here in Sunny East Lansing. There does seem to be more activity this week, but the library where I work is still pretty dead. Half the staff are gone, and only a handful of students had remained to work during the break. This "dead period" runs from the week after finals to the weekend before the spring semester begins. In the past, I was usually one of the staff that was gone on vacation, but in recent years, I have stayed in town during this time. I might still take a day or two off, but I usually work some of the time during this break. It always works out that the library is open three days between Christmas and New Year's Day. (Union negotiated holiday time always guarantees us the two days off for Christmas and New Year's, even when those days fall on the weekend.) Last year, I worked the three days between. I got plenty of work done, but I found myself unable to concentrate on the 3rd day because I just couldn't wait to be on vacation. I knew I wouldn't be able to handle it again this year, so I worked two days and asked for the 3rd day off. Now, I have a 5 day weekend to enjoy.
I don't have any plans for all this time off, but I'll think of something. Most likely, I'll catch up on movie-watching and look for a New Year's party.
In other news, I've worn a couple more of the Calvin Klein colognes that I was given a sample pack of. This week, I'm trying out Escape (for men). I like it well enough, but I prefer CK One. Last week, I tried out Obsession. I gave it a full week, but I don't really care for it. It's too musky and it smells like something an arrogant person would wear. Maybe that's why all the magazine ads that I've seen for it depict nude men and women.
