Middle of the Week

I have today off from work. This is part of my effort to use up a couple vacation days each month in order not to max out on my vacation time accrual. I also have a favor to do for a friend who asked me earlier this month: I'm going to be a guest speaker in a photography class. My friend Howard (with whom I went through the LCC photo program with and with whom I still keep in touch) teaches the low level photography classes (for those students who are not majoring in Photography). He is away from town this week to shoot landscape photography out west, somewhere in Montana. He asked me to handle his evening class. Today's session is supposed to about portraiture. Since that's an area of photography that I like to do and since I have a portfolio that I can show, I'm happy to step in. The class is later this evening in Howell. (It's an LCC class, but it's offered in Howell.) I'm feeling a little nervous, but I'm not too worried. After all, this is a class full of a bunch of amateurs.

I'm still enduring a miserable cough.
Like I mentioned before, it was getting better late last week, after my flu let up. Sunday it seemed to go from a dwindling cough to a brand new problem of its own. I finally called my allergist yesterday to let them know, and they told me to go in. They gave me a prednisone treatment and sent me to a lab for a chest x-ray. They wanted to check for pneumonia, just in case. The x-ray was clear. After the prednisone took effect, I could finally feel relief from the annoying cough. Hopefully, this will reset my immune system back to normal.

I can't be all messed up on Halloween weekend. I have two parties to go to!
