So, I know this is incredibly too early to be thinking about Christmas presents... but some of the presents have to go interstate, others to what is pretty much the other side of the world... and I don't want to have to buy 24 presents in the last weekend before Christmas ( Read more... )

Girl - 17 nearly 18 years - jewellery, if you know her taste, good, otherwise go for a nice simple necklace/earring set.

Girl - 16 years - make up. You can get some funky cases from target and the like, with several shades of eye shadow, foundation, blush, mascara, eyeliner and nail polish, at a reasonable price

Girl - 13 years lockable diary, and a funky pen (glitter or feathers or bouncing critters on the top) OR a jewellery making kit (look in Spotlight or find your nearest bead jewellery making place for earring/necklace sets
Girl - 12 years - ditto

Girl - 8 years - craft! most reject shops have canvasses, brushes and paint sets, or look in spotlight for sewing or embroidery projects (long stitch kits are good) sun catcher kits, badge making, or plaster mold and paint kits OR book vouchers
Girl - 8 years - ditto
Girl - 8 years - ditto
Girl - 6 years - ditto OR jigsaw puzzles (fairies are a good choice usually)

Boy - 6 years - lego or meccano sets (look in Big W for the little individual packs, instead of the play kits they try to make you focus on. OR look in Dick Smiths/Tandy, sort of stores, for the electronic play kits or science projects. Books, if you can find the horrible histories or books with gross facts, most boys love em *g*

Boy - just over a year - plastic (bath books) or cloth books especially counting ones, spinning top, chunky pencils crayons & colouring book, cloth ball - particularly if it has a bell in it, those wooden frames that look like abacuses as created by picasso, cutlery set (seriously, you can never have enough kids cutlery)
Boy - almost 1 year - ditto

another suggestion for the almost 18 year old if she's in Australia; movie gift certificate at her local cinema. My son got his sister the couples one last year, and it was great. Came with a trailer dvd so they knew what movies were coming up, gave them vouchers for tea/coffee after the movie, two free tickets and two half price tickets and vouchers for popcorn combos. Valid for 6 months.

By local I'm assuming you don't mean the nearest Greater Union... Or do you?? But hmm this is something I hadn't thought about...
