dS: apocalyptic fic (slash and gen)

Jul 01, 2006 04:10

THIS LIST IS NO LONGER UPDATED. THE NEW VERSION IS HERE.

Note: This is a THEMATIC MASTER LIST, NOT a rec list. And though I would definitely recommend some, if not most, of the fic here, bear in mind that quality of the stories varies.

Read this, please. Several stories on this master list were found via The Rec List Of Doom! compiled by awesome Little-b (buzzylittleb). I recommend everyone to go and explore it if you are in the mood not only for apocalypse!fic but for regular death!fic as well. Lots of great stories recced there.

Currently 28 stories (not counting sequels). First posted on 2007/08/06.

new - recently added to the list (not necessarily a new fic in itself).

Comes a Time by Sweetestdrain (sweetestdrain)
Fraser/Kowalski, PG-13, ~3000 words, first time, angst, post-CotW (in Chicago), crossover with BtVS (very light). Written for the ds_flashfiction Apocalypse challenge. Author's note: apocalypse-y, pre-slash, canned goods, gratuitous crossover-esque references, doomfully hopeful! PG-14? no character death. Author's summary: “Shouldn’t we be renting a storm cellar or a bomb shelter or something, then?”
Excerpt: "this latest apocalypse rumor was different. This time, Fraser was worried. And Fraser worried meant Ray was worried. Hell, Fraser worried meant Diefenbaker was worried, and usually he and Ray were pretty calm around Fraser’s quirks."

Crescendo by LaAmelia (or here)
Fraser/Kowalski, PG-13, 8k, established relationship, angst. Warning: death story. Author's note: This is labelled a death story. Don't let that put you off. It's darker than your average bear, but not all that dark. I promise. Author's summary: For reasons that don't need exploring at this juncture, the world is coming to an end. Pretty much all you need to know.
Excerpt: "He's so scared, I can feel it, of losing this. This is what we've both craved, and now it's almost over. No re-takes. I start to understand why everyone's so angry."

Fraser/Kowalski, PG-13, 16k, AU, established relationship, angst, post-CotW (in Canada). Warning: death story. Author's summary: In a Canada very different from the one we know, RCMP soldiers on patrol make a surprising discovery. Author's note: Death story. As in both Fraser and RayK (though to be honest, they’re dead before it even starts). Also an AU. If either of these offends or squicks you, GO AWAY. Otherwise, don’t come complaining to me about how I’ve ruined your day.
Excerpt: "Sir?" Chasson was looking at him with worried eyes. "You recognize the structure?" "Lord, yes." Steve shook his head in amazement. "It's a cabin, Constable." Silverburg's forehead furrowed. "A 'cabin', sir? Like in the history books?"
