Some recs (mostly due South) and random linkie stuff
*** La Liste d'Achate du Consulat Canadien: A Story in Six Parts by charashi and emeraldparallax. Gen, 666 words, Turnbull, Thatcher, humour. Written for the ds_flashfiction Shopping List challenge. Summary: "The Canadian Consulate: One big dysfunctionally happy family!" Hysterically funny. Oh, how I love Turnbull! :)
*** To Do by helvirago. Fraser/Kowalski, R, ~400 words, established relationship, humour. Written for the ds_flashfiction Porn challenge (the characters must be having sex for the entire duration of the story). Summary: "Fraser makes a mental list." I found this old little story several days ago and am still giggling. Very funny and hot.
*** Five times Stella surprised Ray (and Ray didn't mind at all) by etben. Kowalski/Stella, NC-17, 1977 words. Excerpt: It's not much bigger than fingers, but smooth and slick and it just keeps going on, in and in and in and then out and in again. Ray spreads his legs and let his head fall down, and, yeah, moans a little - it feels amazing, this slow, aching glide. Mostly, I don't read het. It just doesn't work for me and I can count the number of het fics that I liked on fingers of one hand. But this story just blew my mind. Ray and Stella as late teens. And Stella is dirty. So incredibly hot! And RayK voice! Yum.
*** "School of the Tiger" Series by que_qiao. Original male/male slash, NC-17, medium. Found this story through wesleysgirl's rec. I rarely read original slash but this fic captured me right from the start. Wonderful writing, very interesting and vivid characters. Summary: "A series of short stories concerning two Brit boys and their uneasy relationship. Thom and Joseph were both born and bred in the estates of Rabford, a go-nowhere town neither London nor Essex proper, but whereas Thom strides the streets with a justifiable arrogance, Joseph... doesn't."
*** Almost-sorta-kinda-rec: See You Later, Farewell by str8isboring05. Fraser/Kowalski, PG-13, ~1700 words, pre-slash, AU. Summary: "Kowalski is drafted into the Vietnam War where he meets Doctor Benton Fraser. They click, become best friends and long to become more. With the risk of court martial and time in prison they must keep from initiating a relationship until they get stateside." I wouldn't call this a rec per se, 'cause there're some pretty obvious problems with this fic (some irritating typos, pov changes, etc.) but there's some potential, too. A good beta (native speakers, hint hint *g*) can solve all these issues. The concept is very original and interesting, and RayK voice is just awesome. This is the author's first dS story (or maybe even a first fic?) and I'm certainly hoping for a sequel.
*** Inuvik boot grille (syndicated lj feed here). This is a personal blog of a French-Canadian journalist who moved to Northwest Territories several years ago and now works at a local newspaper in Inuvik. Nothing much there except lots and lots of very good photos from NWT (Inuvik, Tuktoyaktuk, Aklavik, Whitehorse, other communities in the Beaufort Sea Delta). I found this blog about a month ago and spent about 3 hours scrolling through. I'm pretty sure some of you dS fanatics already know about it, but just in case there're some ignorant types like me... Go, look at pretty pictures! That's where Fraser and RayK live right now! *g*
*** If you use Firefox, go to malnpudl's place. She asked about Firefox extensions and got lots of interesting answers. I definitely found some very useful and new for me add-ons there.
