It has been an eventful weekend for me and my wife. We had the usual chores to do, as well as swimming in the pool as it warmed up above 65. I mixed a new batch green sand and cast a small dowel. The top was very good, the wood grain evident, but I am still having an issue with steam in the bottom. I have to discover a better way to vent to fix it.
My friend Stu from High School was in upstate New York so I had a nice dinner with him and his wife saturday. He is a conservative and I am a Democrat (not necessarily liberal, but moreso than he). It was a lively dinner and it was excellent to see him and meet his wife Rene.
Sunday was a lazy day as my wife visited her parents to take care of them while her sister tended to some errands. Dinner was a delicious chicken, corn on the cob and potatoes all on the grill.
Then, at three in the morning came the horrible call that her father was passing. He was at peace by the time we got there as my wife's family began to show up. It was very sad and moving to see the crowd of children, seven in all, and some of there children holding vigil till the dawn came. I went to work by 11 and dealt as best I could with the inane annoyances there before returning to the parents house. More people had arrived and were keeping Leanna's mother company, who now and again laughed and cried as the turmoil passed through her.
I feel lucky to be even a small part of this wonderful family.
