Did I mention I have left comcast?
I always knew something was up when I couldn't down load Suse using bittorrent, or get the latest unlicensed anime fansub. Comcast, while they were sneaking up my rates on a monthly basis, was blocking the traffic!!! Bastards!
Anyway, I got tired of the ignorance tax they were sneaking into my bill every month (It started as $45 / month and somehow ended up at $79 / month ) so I went to the Verizon website, ordered DSL and had Comcast out of my house a mere three days later. Sure, DSL is about a third to half as fast as cable, but it's reliable and good enough for me. ANd my bill will be $14.95 a month. For ever. For life. EAT THAT COMCAST!!!
Not that I love Verizon... NO WAY! I'll never have a Verizon cell phone and I canceled my Unicel when I heard Verizon was buying rural Cellular. Verizon costs more, provides less and you feel sick leaving the store with a two year contract millstone hanging around your neck. Unicel cost half as much, no contract and I had coverage just about everywhere.
But, you have to pick your battles. To celebrate my change, I mounted the tiny DSL Modem and wireless router to the wall and plugged it into a socket attached to a light switch. I turn the switch off when I am not using my computer so that I won't get the electric vampire effect from all my components when they are "off".
Even though I technically have left one "man" for another, I did it on my terms and at a great price. I recommend everyone who is fed up with the "man" find some way to stick to him.
