My VW is in the garage now. We pushed it there with my Camry. They really should have better thought out the front grill on those cars. Anyone who tries to push another car with a Camry is headed for broken plastic. Oh, well, it's for a good cause.
But seriously, remember the good old days when everyone pushed cars bumper to bumper with another car? You used to have these great big black rubber bumpers to do that with. Say you ran out of gas or stalled in a traffic lane, there was always someone who would be happy to push you off to the side with their car and wave as the left you stranded. If it scuffed up a little? Ta-ta-ta-TA-ta-TA! Armor All!!! Now, bumpers are painted plastic. It has made us a less helpful society, I think. Makes me want to go find a nice 1980 Toyota Tercel and go nudge people at stop lights, just to remind them of friendlier days.
Ah well. Anyway, the car is in the garage and I swear that within three weeks it will be in the basement. In keeping with my One-Project-At-A-Time mantra, I need to finish refinishing a dining room table first. I hope to have that done by the end of the week. Then, next week, I will finish pulling out the rotted upholstery from the inside of the car, wash it down as best I can and buy wheel dollies and an engine bracket with my paycheck. Next weekend, unfortunately I have to go to New Jersey for a Disaster Recovery exercise. Boring. Then, the following weekend, I will try to remove the engine from the car before moving the car to the basement. The engine I will keep in the garage until it has been disassembled and cleaned as necessary.
