I may actually get more use out of my "oh CLAMP" tag than my "oh Kubo" one.
There’s a lot of discussion floating around now on who the hell Watanuki’s parents were. One of the more popular theories seems to be that his father is Eriol from CCS, and that much I think is probably a pretty good guess. However, I have also seen people saying that, if Eriol is his father, Tomoyo cannot be his mother, simply because she is love with Sakura.
…really now?
Look at X. Look at Saaya. Saaya got married, and she had Fuuma and Kotori.
And she still loved Tohru more than anything.
Marrying a man and having children did nothing to change her feelings for Tohru. In fact, she did all of that for Tohru’s own sake.
Tomoyo is, like Saaya, an incredibly selfless character. And if she discovered that she somehow needed to do the same for Sakura’s sake, or for the sake of Sakura’s child, can you honestly tell me that she wouldn’t?
And too, were that the case, Watanuki and Syaoran would suddenly have some parallels to Fuuma and Kamui, which would make their Epically Unexplained Hitsuzen Bond or WTFE Crap™ make at least a little more sense, given that Fuuma and Kamui are also tied together. …also they’d be cousins lol. >.>
Now, I’m not saying that Tomoyo is his mother, or that Eriol is his father (though if I had to guess, that’s what I’d go with), or even that his parents are necessarily characters we know from CCS.
I’m simply saying that just the fact she was in love with Sakura absolutely does not rule the possibility out. :3 And if she does turn out to be Watanuki’s mother, that absolutely does not mean she no longer loved Sakura, either.
