The Daylight War
by Peter V. Brett
book three of The Demon Cycle
I cannot rave enough about this book! I waited for over a year for it to be published. Read it in two days and it ends in a cliffhanger!
Very well detailed, the idea of demons and wards to draw them, prevent them, and fight them, while not unique, is uniquely presented here. The characters have developed well, even the minor characters seem alive.
Beautiful Creatures
Beautiful Darkness
Beautiful Chaos
Beautiful Redemption
by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl
The first three of the Beautiful Creatures series are very entertaining and I found myself devouring them to find out what happens next.
With the fourth one, I am still curious to know what happens, but it feels tacked on as if the authors were told "make the story longer." Perhaps I will feel differently once I finish it.
Overall I would say they are much better than the Twilight series.
Reign of Shadows
by Deborah Chester
book one of The Ruby Throne Trilogy
An interesting story of an ageless king finally having his reign end. One of the main characters has periods of annoying behaviors/thoughts, but overall I found myself continuing to read on and on until the book was done.
I will be starting book two this week.
Letter to a Christian Nation
by Sam Harris
An interesting book about the contradictions in Christianity and how it undermines actual peace and good will between people. The author is very much opposed to Islam and makes it known in debating about Christianity.
It is not long and a quick read. As an atheist myself, I found the examples it gave interesting and thought provoking. I plan on reading a lot of the books he suggests at the end and find out more about the things he talks about.
