Yes, it's that time of year.
Went to my first game of the year yesterday. Effing COLD to the point of being in pain, but fun.
Inspiration hit me to make some icons, since the only icons of the Indians I see on
baseball_icons are of Sizemore. (Seriously. I see posts go by that say things like "25 BoSox, 30 NYY, 10 Grady Sizemore." Hunh? He's not the only dude on the team.) So I went on the hunt for pictures. Now I'm going to spam you with said pictures.
See, everyone else is posting those new promo shots of the Ackles. I get it, I get it. Crotch shot. Yes, they are might fine shots. Here's a change, though.
I'll start out shallow, and pretty much stay there. This is all very, very random. Also, I refrained from anything of Cabrera this time around.
Franklin Gutierrez, right field.
I rarely - if ever - think baseball players are extremely attractive. Most gals go for Sizemore. Well, I think Sizemore is damn talented, but looks like a young Bob Feller. Gutierrez, though?
Holy moly. I've got a thing for sharp, angular, well-defined cheekbones, okay? Stab me with a fork.
Lookit! He's dancing!
Oh, and speaking of this picture...
I love the new uniforms. (Joe Borowski, closing pitcher, and Casey Blake, 3B.)
But seriously, on Sizemore? I guess I can understand why people make icons of him. He's... icon-able. In fact, the icon I use on this post is Sizemore. I find it amusing because he's sticking his tongue out.
Follow through the swing with the tongue...
React to getting hit with a pitch.
Honestly, I'd probably react the same way, but there would be more screaming involved.
And our pitchers:
So we didn't win the World Series last year, but we do have the Cy Young winner: CC Sabathia.
However...
I kinda think Fausto Carmona might outshine CC this year. Maybe that's just my crazy hope. I like CC. I do. But Carmona is a freaking machine.
Let's just pull some shit from last year, shall we?
Versus Johan Santana - got his number. Yeah - that's right. The guy everybody was making such a big deal about during the offseason? Carmona beat him. Twice. One of the Twins' players, said "I can't wait until we face normal pitchers. This guy's sinker is practically unhittable."
He kinda fascinates me.
And last night I got to see this guy pitch for the first time:
Masa Kobayashi, relieving pitcher. He came here from Japan; pretty much one of the only major deals we made in the offseason.
He didn't do very well last night, but I like watching his windup. He rocks up on the balls of his feet, and he has this slight stutter thing with his leg when he kicks up.
He worries me about how he'll connect with the rest of the team, considering he has to communicate through a translator. Half of the Indians speak English, and the other half speak Spanish. And then we've got this ONE guy who speaks Japanese. I'd hate to be in that position. >_<
Anyway. 2-0. Nice start, you bandits. :-D
