"Look at all these beautiful colors.. How could you possibly say fish are boring, they're like liquid rainbows intermingling with incredible complexity. They are proof god exists."
"Yes dear, but they're fish. That's all they do."
"And that's the beauty of it, the simplistic faith in just living for life. No doubt flickers through the eyes of those beautiful fish."
"Nothing flickers through the eyes of those fish, lets go look at something else, like cats."
"Just one more minute and i'll be right there."
One fish looked at another fish and said "I wonder if he's going to be okay, she doesn't really seem to notice anything."
The other fish responded in turn: "I think that's a silly question, just because he may not like living all the time doesn't mean he can just shut down his higher functions, feeling growing pain is part of life."
If the fish could have blinked, he would have. "You're comparing the ultimate emotion to the electrical signals from stretched nervous cells?"
Fish2: "Sure, by feeling this pain it makes him further aware of pleasure. The pleasure is the reverse situation for all these feelings. Every time something happens to displease him that hasn't happened before, the reverse can now occur to make him feel happy."
Fish1: "Oh stop being all philosophical, and stop talking so loudly, you're scaring the human girl."
Just then, the human girl passed out.
"Yes dear, but they're fish. That's all they do."
