Thank you! I just figured it was worth posting anywhere I have posting access!

I post links and phone numbers up too.

I am thinking about registering for the emergency accommodation thing, but whether people want to head down here or not is another question. Especially as the trains had to be replaced with buses due to sleepers getting burnt (no injuries though, which was good). It is also might be a bit too far away from accessing the support services, but I guess it wouldn't hurt to register anyway.

Definitely can't hurt to offer... whether people choose to accept or not is up to them. And thanks for posting links and phone numbers. I figure if we all do this, then the messages are bound to get to the people who can help.

Hmm... you know, I can smell smoke at home and at work today - first time since the fires started. I gather there are grass fires in Ivanhoe, how nice...

I saw there are more fires going...

And closer to Melbourne too. And Healesville fire has picked up again. It is really bad.

All it takes is for the wind to change direction.

People are being so generous... now if only I could find the pile of handmade cards that I made, I could offer those up. (I moved last year, and things are still in boxes and odd places)

People are being wonderful.

I hope you can find the cards! Handmade cards are gorgeous.

(and I know about the endless boxes and suitcases. We moved seven years ago, and our last box only got unpacked last year. The last suitcase got unpacked over the weekend when I was looking for things to donate...)

I gave a heap of stuff away because this last move was a BIG move (as in 1400km) so I don't have a lot to donate. Although it went to the salvos, so I guess indirectly it may help the bushfires anyway (from being sold and the money going towards things).

I have about 30-40 cards *somewhere* as I kept going to workshops. I have photos of some of them. Like this:

Ooh, very pretty. Yes, the Salvoes were giving out donated bedding etc to people who lost their homes, so I imagine your stuff did benefit people directly or indirectly.

See, I've had 7 years of not moving in which to accumulate STUFF, so I had quite a bit to donate! One needs to stay still for enough time for this to happen, I suspect...

Pretty much. I was still for 2 years, and I donated about 3 car loads to the salvos.

DId you want to add the accommodation to you post - the website only went up today, so advertising it might be a good thing.

Point me at the website and I'll add it, and put it on the information page too (sorry, I'm at work and doing this in between, so haven't got much time to go looking).
