Thank you! I just figured it was worth posting anywhere I have posting access!

I post links and phone numbers up too.

I am thinking about registering for the emergency accommodation thing, but whether people want to head down here or not is another question. Especially as the trains had to be replaced with buses due to sleepers getting burnt (no injuries though, which was good). It is also might be a bit too far away from accessing the support services, but I guess it wouldn't hurt to register anyway.

Definitely can't hurt to offer... whether people choose to accept or not is up to them. And thanks for posting links and phone numbers. I figure if we all do this, then the messages are bound to get to the people who can help.

Hmm... you know, I can smell smoke at home and at work today - first time since the fires started. I gather there are grass fires in Ivanhoe, how nice...

I wish I could do something, but I have no real use. (Besides what I've already donated.)

I'm sure you have many uses ;-)

Thank you for your support in any case. Donating directly to the Red Cross is the best thing at the moment - it is what they are asking people to do. Part of my aim here is to help provide incentives to donate (though it's wonderfully clear that most people need no further incentive) - another part is to channel the urge I think a lot of people have to *do* something, even if they don't have skills that are really relevant to the current situation... or if, like me, they have saleable skills but not as much spare money as they would like to have to donate.

One thing you - and anyone - can do if you like the look of this community is to spread the word.

Kind regards,

Catherine

Not being an Aussie, there's nothing I could do to help physically, and there's not much I need for myself that'd I'd be bidding on anything, so have made a straight out contribution to the Aussie RC. I had been wondering where I could make a contribution, thanx to this place I was able to find a way :)
