All of the boys and the girls here in Paris,
sing to the night without sight, but with madness.
Busy, busy, busy.
I may have that job soon, and you'll be kept up-to-date if I get it.
I've got a manga review to revise and an anime review to do for www.animesecrets.com (which I am now on staff for).
I've gotten student loan things straightened around, finally.
Inside of two weeks' time, I should hopefully have gathered my share of the deposit to sign a lease for that apartment.
I also still need to convince my father that me moving out is a brilliant idea.
Thankfully, my mother is completely understanding, and for the most part, supportive.
I severely need to start looking more at music/choreography/council responsibilities for GAME for the coming year.
I also think some studying is seriously in order for my Japanese language classes.
All of this, and a reasonable social life?
This should be fun.
For now, let's take a look at the previous week in review...
Last weekend was quite a bit of fun, and by "quite a bit," I mean an astounding amount.
I just sort of spent Friday hanging out, but it was just as fun as always, though rather uneventful.
Saturday, I spent the majority of the day in Bowling Green hanging out with the usual crowd (i.e. - Ariel, Michelle, David, and Ronnie), though we added a Zach and a Steve this time. There was much UNO and random gallivanting around, which was excellent.
We took a pit stop in the middle of all the random to check out the dealer's room at GarasuNoShiCon at Owens Community College, and I was rather excited to find a Junjou Romantica wall scroll. It's incredibly difficult to find paraphernalia from that particular series anywhere, let alone at a small con in nowhere Northwest Ohio. They were selling small, inexpensive mystery grab bags as well, so I bought one for a dollar. Inside, I was happy to find two Bleach postcards, and a box of chocolate Pocky with Thai writing on it, which is unusual, and just perfect for my collection. Did I ever mention that I collect Japanese snack food boxes? Well, now you know. Even better, Ronnie managed to get a Kuroshitsuji postcard in his grab bag, and was willing to trade me for one of my Bleach postcards. I will gladly give up a postcard of Ichigo if it means a postcard of Ciel Phantomhive and (more importantly) Sebastian Michealis in return. David also traded the Death Note key chain in his grab bag for an Inuyasha bag that Steve found in his. The bag is apparently going to be a decoration for the apartment, and I think that's an exceptional place for it. I managed to run into a few friends while I was there, too.
We made our way back to the apartment after completion of that little side trip. I also got a couple rather epic gifts for my birthday, because my friends are just that amazing. I spent the majority of that evening just sort of basking in the awesomeness. I don't know that there are many other specific highlights from this particular day, it was more or less just filled with win (as always). That being said, one of the house guests happens to be a rather loud snorer apparently, as I did not get much sleep that night, and was quite prepared to find a frying pan or other large, blunt object to silence the offender with.
Sunday was a look up from the previous night. There was quite a bit of miscellaneous hanging around and doing nothing for a while. Then, as per usual, there was a trip to Grounds for Thought for some glorious caffeine and a bit of Apples to Apples. It wasn't as long a stay as I'm used to, but it was still wonderful, regardless. Later into the night, there was some discussion with the girls + David about plans for changes that might possibly need to be made for GAME next year, but we'll cross that bridge when we get to it. Either way, it was a rather productive brainstorming session, if I do say so myself. There wasn't much sleep this time either, because we spent a majority of the night up talking. It wasn't horribly troublesome, though. I managed to drive myself home in one piece the next morning, so I consider that a victory, more or less.
As for this week, it's been uneventful, save for keeping up with the anime I'm watching so I can write that review.
(No, I'm not going to tell you what it is. You'll see the review when it's done.)
I DO have a new cell phone however, which is terribly exciting. This one comes with unlimited texting, which is something I am new to, and slowly already forming an addiction for. It's just insanely convenient, to be honest. I'm excited to finally join the rest of the technologically-advanced populous. The phone in question is the turquoise Sprint LG Remarq. It's got a small, squared off design with a sliding QWERTY keyboard and a camera on the back. Aside from that, the back features a plant-like logo with a leaf-shaped speaker, and the packaging is made of 87% post-consumer material, not to mention 100% recyclable. It's prided itself on being very eco-friendly, and as a general fan of tree hugging, this pleases me. Anyone who hasn't already asked for my new phone number (because it IS different than the old one) and would like it, let me know. I'm a little skeptical about who I give my phone number to, but if you had the old one, chances are that I'll have no trouble coughing up the new one.
Also, my younger brother managed to pull a groin muscle playing soccer the other night. I can't imagine the pain accompanying such an injury, but he describes it as feeling like he's being stabbed every time he attempts to walk. I don't know about your preferences, but to me, that doesn't sound like very much fun at all. My uncle brought over an old pair of crutches, but apparently my brother just plans to tough it out until he heals a bit more. There's not much else to be said here, other than hoping that he heals well enough soon.
Earlier today, I managed to get in touch with Melissa (a resounding "Huzzah!" for texting), and she and I spent a while at her local library to make an attempt at digging back into our Japanese language textbook. It's a slow progress, but we've gotta start somewhere, right? After getting through an overview of a fair-sized chunk of the book, we decided that Taco Bell sounded like a splendid idea. Upon driving a short distance, engaging in the conversation so often spoken by those catching up after a long reprieve, and ingesting the ungodly delight that is fake, Americanized, Mexican food, I got word from a few people that bad weather was headed our way. The pounding rain coming from outside the little fast food restaurant seemed to suddenly make more sense, so we decided to wait out the storm by sitting around Taco Bell talking some more about life and the past few months while a few friends were keeping an eye on the weather radar for us. I managed to get home with little to no trouble, which was nice. I have, since that time, been for the most part watching television and perusing the interwebs.
I'm sad to say that I haven't been keeping up with the re-showing of Glee's first season as well as I'd like to, though I did catch tonight's episode. I know a couple of people that are fully intending to purchase the full copy of season one once it arrives on DVD and Blue-Ray in early-mid September, so I figure I can watch the entire season straight through by then to catch myself up.
I'm starting to wonder if this season's So You Think You Can Dance? really IS cursed, seeing as there have been a steady stream of injured dancers for the past few weeks now. Thankfully, Billy was given permission by his doctors to dance again, so the judges have (for the first time EVER, mind you) decided to forgo eliminations for this week in favor of giving Billy a fair shot to dance next week and get rid of TWO dancers instead of one.
I've ALSO seen the first episode of the two-part season finale of Doctor Who, which frankly, blew my mind a little. The episode, entitled The Pandorica Opens, left me more than a little impatient for the rest of the finale. I won't give too much away, but I have a few theories as to how things are going to resolve. Some of them are probably crack-pot theories, but they exist just the same. That being said, I know of a couple of websites that have part two posted and available for viewing right this second, but I've been distracting myself enough to hold out for the bigger, better quality version to play on my TV next Tuesday night. The episodes usually air on Saturdays, but they re-air on Tuesdays, and as my weekends tend to be rather busy, I find that Tuesday nights are a great substitution.
I think that about wraps it up for this week's blog.
I don't know that these entries will be limited to one per week, that just seems to be the going rate right now.
I imagine if the mood struck, I could write far more often.
For now, I think this pace works rather nicely.
So for the time being, I suppose I shall bid you all adieu.
Here's lookin' at you, kids.
xoxo
